DSI Comedy Theater to Present Sixth Annual Carolina's Funniest Contest

This March, audiences at DSI Comedy Theater will once again have an opportunity to crown the funniest person in North Carolina as it hosts Carolina's Funniest Comic. Now in its 6th year, this competition runs throughout the month of March. Shows are every Friday at 7:30 pm starting March 8. There will be added shows Thursday, March 7 at 7:30 pm and Friday, March 8 at 9 pm. Tickets to each round cost $12 and all shows run at DSI Comedy Theater, 200 N. Greensboro Street in the Carr Mill Mall between Elmo's and Southern Rail. The finals will be Friday, April 5 at 7:30 pm at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro. The 2013 North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival is kicking off its 13th year with a loaded line-up of local and national rising comics. The festival officially kicks off Wednesday, Jan 30 at MotorCo.in Durham with an 8 p.m. show featuring a line-up of local comics. Then the festival moves to multiple performances at DSI Comedy Theater and Local 506 in Chapel Hill through Sunday. Tickets to festival shows cost $10 or $14 and are available online at www.nccomedyarts.com. MotorCo is located at 723 Rigsbee Ave in Durham. North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival Preps for 13th Year

This year, the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival has set out to create a 13th year that will showcase the best up and coming stand-up comedians, sketch artists, and improvisors in the nation and some well-known headliners. In its 13th year, the festival remains one of the largest events of its kind on the East Coast. Organizers are busy finalizing the schedule, but they are pleased to announce the schedule and some already confirmed headliners for the 13th Annual North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival. This year's headliners include comedian Larry Miller and Kevin Allison's RISK! Live. This year the festival runs January 30-February 17. The festival will be held at several venues throughout the Chapel Hill and Carrboro area and will have one night each at the Carolina Theater and MotorCo in Durham. Hosted by Tish and Snooky of Manic Panic, this benefit extravaganza will also showcase the talents of Blue Coupe, Joe Hurley, Eddie Brill (current warm-up comedian for The David Letterman Show), Michael Musto, Murray Weinstock, and other surprise appearances.
