PlayCo Presents a Conversation With THE GOLDEN DRAGON's Roland Schimmelpfennig, 5/12

The Play Company's Idea Lab, in collaboration with Goethe-Institut New York and the German Consulate New York, is proud to present a public event featuring internationally acclaimed German playwright Roland Schimmelpfennig, in conjunction with our New York premiere production of his play THE GOLDEN DRAGON. Mr. Schimmelpfennig will discuss his award-winning play THE GOLDEN DRAGON, his larger body of work, and trends in German theatre on Sunday, May 12 @4:15pm -- immediately following the 3pm matinee performance of THE GOLDEN GRAGON at The New Ohio Theatre, 154 Christopher Street. This open conversation will be moderated by Dr. Frank Hentschker, Executive Director of the Martin E. Segal Theatre Center at the CUNY Graduate Center. (more...)

Broadway and Off-Broadway producer Ken Davenport (Macbeth, Kinky Boots, Godspell, Altar Boyz, The Awesome 80's Prom) will present The Davenport Ten Minute Play Contest which will feature ten 10 minute plays or musicals on June 20th at 7pm at the Davenport Studios. The contest winner and recipient of a $500 grand prize will be decided by an industry panel of judges that will include Ken Davenport, two-time Drama Desk nominated director Ed Sylvanus Iskandar, Broadway producer Jhett Tolentino, and Spring Awakening actress Remy Zaken. THE GOLDEN DRAGON is directed by Ed Sylvanus Iskandar (THESE SEVEN SICKNESSES, RESTORATION COMEDY), renowned for whimsical invite-only theater company, Exit, Pursued by a Bear. THE GOLDEN DRAGON will be performed at The New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street in the West Village) from tonight, May 8th through Sunday, June 9th, 2013. Access Theater & The Dirty Blondes' present award-winning director Alexandra Siladi (Outstanding Director, Planet Connections Festivity 2012) and actor/filmmaker Shane Jensen's production of PASSING THROUGH: Room 603, April 10-14. The show features the theatrical premiere of plays from Hotel Room (a miniseries produced by David Lynch & Monty Montgomery) including two works by Barry Gifford and a third developed from Jay McInerney's teleplay.
