In celebration of the birthday of iconic Hollywood legend Steve McQueen who would have turned 83-years-old yesterday, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment have announced that THE GREAT ESCAPE will arrive on Blu-ray for The First Time today, May 7, 2013. KBEM Jazz88 Announces Jazz Noir Series Premiere by BWW News Desk - Mar 08, 2013
For those who long for "the grand old days" of radio, Jazz88 KBEM has answered the call. Jazz Noir is a new original radio series complete with live voiceover actors in front of a studio audience, just like in the days of radio's infancy. Jazz88's first episode is an original drama, Charles & Avon, that will be performed, recorded and broadcast in front of a live audience from the Artists' Quarter in downtown Saint Paul on Sunday, April 28, with shows at 5 and 8 p.m. The 8 p.m. performance will be broadcast live. Ticket information will be available at www.jazz88fm.com. The radio show will be re-broadcast on Jazz88 KBEM in June 2013 and on several AMPERS radio stations throughout Minnesota, with potential broadcasts on several public radio jazz stations nationwide. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD Returns to Park Square, 4/4-14 by BWW News Desk - Feb 05, 2013
Harper Lee's Pulitzer-prize winning classic, To Kill a Mockingbird, returns to Park Square after sold-out performances in 2011. Set in a small town in Alabama in 1935, it is a story of one man's pursuit of justice in a climate of racial inequality. The novel's hero Atticus Finch serves as an iconic inspiration for tolerance and integrity; his eight-year-old daughter Scout remains among the most beloved young characters in literature with her pluck, smarts and willingness to understand the perspectives of others. Directed by David Mann, this large-scale staging of Christopher Sergel's adaptation includes a gospel chorus and an evocative set designed by Joel Sass. To Kill a Mockingbird is on stage for eight general audience performances April 4-14, 2013. (more...)

FPAC Announces THE SOUND OF MUSIC Cast by BWW News Desk - Jan 21, 2013
The hallways of the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) were buzzing with excitement on Saturday, January 12 as some 150 area children ages 7 and older arrived with music in tow to audition for the roles of the seven von Trapp children in Franklin Performing Arts Company's upcoming production of The Sound of Music. The open auditions also cast a large number of ensemble roles. FPAC will present the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical theater classic, with professional orchestra, on Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at Franklin's Thomas D.
