Community Division Holds Masterclass With West End String Quartet Seminar

The West End String Quartet Seminar, an exciting new chamber music program at The Hartt School Community Division, continues its series of master classes for Hartt Community Division string chamber groups this semester on Friday, February 4 at 7:30 PM in room 410/412 of the Fuller Music Center (Hartt's main building) on the University of Hartford campus at 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford.

The Old Opera House Closes WHITE CHRISTMAS, 12/12

Based on the timeless film, White Christmas, this heartwarming musical features seventeen of Irving Berlin's most beloved songs in historic Charles Town's Old Opera House throughout the month of December. Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont ski lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil's former army commander. They arrive to find that it has not snowed all season and there is plenty of room at the Inn. In an effort to save the Inn and their former commander, Bob and Phil bring their entire show to the Inn for the Christmas holidays. The dazzling score features well known standards including Blue Skies, I Love A Piano, How Deep Is the Ocean and the perennial favorite, White Christmas.

Court Theatre Announces Appointment Of Executive Director Stephen J. Albert

The Court Theatre Board of Trustees today announces that Stephen J. Albert has been appointed Court Theatre's Executive Director. Albert is a nationally known producer, manager and consultant who has led some of America's most prestigious theatres. He has been serving as a management consultant to Court since January and will begin full time with the company in August 2010.
Hartt's FONTE to Chair U of Miami Theatre Arts Program

The Hartt School's Director of New Play Development and Professor of Theatre Henry Fonte has been appointed Chair of the Department of Theatre Arts and Producing Artistic Director of The Jerry Herman Ring Theatre at the University of Miami (FL), effective August 1. Fonte, who departs Hartt on May 17, after twelve years as part of the Theatre Division's faculty, will direct the Dramatic Writing Workshop at New Noises Studio at the Perry Mansfield Performing Arts School & Camp (CO), and the musical Into the Woods at Intermezzo Festival in Portland, ME, prior to assuming his new role at Miami.
