The York Symphony Orchestra will present April in Paris on Saturday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts in York. The performance will feature guest conductor, Kelly Corcoran, who was named "Best Classical Conductor" in 2015 by the Nashville Scene, and world-class vocalist, Mandy Barnett. When the subject of New York City Center Encores! comes up among musical theatre enthusiasts, the conversation almost invariably steers to what shows they should be presenting in their series of concerts. Although several of their productions, like the mega-hit revival of CHICAGO, have transferred, a night out at Encores! is, to many, most satisfying when they revive shows that, although significant in one way or another, are unlikely to find themselves back on Broadway.

On February 7th, Dorothy, Toto, and all of their friends made a stop in Jackson, Mississippi on their way to the Emerald City. In addition to the young lady wearing the famous blue-checkered dress and ruby slippers on the stage, there were at least a dozen miniature Dorothys scattered throughout the audience in the auditorium of Thalia Mara Hall. The theater was packed with audience members of all ages who had come to experience the nostalgia and magic of the beloved movie musical The Wizard of Oz on stage.

The Wizard of Oz has quickly become Australia's smash hit musical, with almost every performance in Sydney sold out after a near sell-out Brisbane season. With Melbourne audiences flocking to buy tickets to the London Palladium production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Wizard of Oz new tickets will be released on Friday for performances up to 1 July. The Wizard of Oz has been thrilling capacity audiences since it opened and impressing critics as well. The Sunday Telegraph called it "Impressively lavish" with "Stunning sets and costumes … audiences are in for a treat." Sydney Arts Guide claimed it's "a breathtaking musical revelation" with "new enchanting and unforgettable songs", while the Sydney Morning Herald said the production is "a visual treat."

The holiday production at Syracuse Stage is always a family favorite to look forward to and this year is no different. Syracuse Stage and the Department of Drama have joined forces with New York City-based 2 Ring Circus to bring a twist on the iconic story of The Wizard of Oz. Cleverly directed by Donna Drake, The Wizard of Oz comes to life with all the familiarity of the 1939 film starring Judy Garland, but with a unique infusion of acrobatic arts into the story and choreography. The end result is truly hypnotizing.
