Times Square International Theater Festival Launches 1/16-22

The Roy Arias Studios & Theaters, located in the Times Square Arts Center at 300 West 43rd Street, will present the first Times Square International Theater Festival from January 16 to 22, 2012.

Joe Sib returns to New York City and The Bowery Electric (327 Bowery) on October 13th, 2011 for this intimate, one-night-only performance of California Calling. The one-man show is based on Sib's story of growing up in the early 1980's when the counterculture of skateboarding and punk rock hit the suburbs of California. Sib animates his verbal autobiography with 70+ photographs and limitless enthusiasm. It's a universal and classic story about how music has the power to shape and define lives. American Lyric Theater (ALT), home to the nationally acclaimed Composer Librettist Development Program, has announced the 2011-2012 public performance season, featuring workshop performances of seven new operas by Resident Artists; as well as lectures and master classes with some of the country's leading operatic writers. While the majority of ALT's programs are dedicated to mentorship of gifted emerging composers and librettists, six public events will take place over the course of the season to introduce these writers, their work, and other exciting trends in American opera to New York City audiences.

Diamond, director Kenny Leon & producer Reuben Cannon were toasted on Martha's Vineyard in celebration of the Broadway premiere of Diamond's play STICK FLY, which is set in a Martha's Vineyard mansion. The event took place at the home of investment banker Valerie Mosley who co-hosts with entertainment lawyer Lisa E. Davis, former NASA astronaut and the first African American to walk on the moon Dr. Bernard A. Harris, Jr., former UN Ambassador Andrew Young, journalist Charlayne Hunter-Gault and American human rights advocate Martin Luther King III.
