ABC Family enters into the world of music with its first movie musical featuring an incredibly talented cast, including Jane Seymour, Chelsea Kane, Sara Paxton, Alexander John, Drew Seeley, Adrienne Bailon and Tom Wopat. The two-hour original movie, "Elixir" (working title), also features a stellar creative team in producer Debra Martin Chase and Terry Rossio, writers Terry Rossio & Jaylynn Bailey, choreographer Michael Rooney and director Sanaa Hamri. The movie will feature unforgettable covers as well as several original songs and show-stopping dance numbers. Principal shooting is scheduled to start September 26 in Pittsburgh, PA. This original movie is slated to premiere on ABC Family in 2012. (more...)

The Disney Channel original series "Shake It Up" has gotten fans moving and shaking ever since premiering last year. Now, Walt Disney Records is set to release Shake It Up: Break It Down CD + DVD, a collection of upbeat dance songs from the series, including the show's theme song, "Shake It Up," performed by Hollywood Records' artist Selena Gomez. The 14-track collection also includes the singing debut of "Shake It Up" stars Bella Thorne and Zendaya, and many more. (more...)

When a college freshman discovers his girlfriend is pregnant, he must learn to juggle his homework and daddy duty or face losing his scholarship and his future in "Freshman Father," a Hallmark Channel in HD Original Movie premiering Saturday, June 5 (9p.m. ET/PT, 8C). TBS has given the greenlight to the one-hour comedy series GLORY DAZE, a 1980s-set college comedy starring Kelly Blatz (Aaron Stone), Callard Harris (Sons of Anarchy), Matt Bush (High School), Drew Seeley (Freshman Father), Hartley Sawyer (Killian), Julianna Guill (My Alibi) and Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live, Mean Girls). TBS has ordered eight episodes of the series, which was created by Walt Becker (Wild Hogs) and Michael LeSieur (You, Me and Dupree). GLORY DAZE is slated to premiere on TBS in late 2010. (more...)

Whatsonstage.com is reporting that the UK tour of High School Musical 2: Live on Stage will close three months early. The production, a follow-up to the wildly successful original High School Musical, was initially scheduled to close on 29 May, 2010 after launching at London's New Wimbledon Theatre on 22 August. It will now take its final bow on 27 February, 2010. (more...)

Variety is reporting that Disney is developing a localized adaption of its High School Musical franchise for China and production has already begun on "Disney High School Musical: China" which, while similar to the American High School Musical is based on an original screenplay written from the ground up. According to a report in Variety, actor Drew Seeley will be joined by Annie Potts and Emmy-winning soap actress Kim Zimmer in the film ‘Freshman Father.' Potts will play a surrogate mother to Seeley's character, a Harvard undegrad student who finds himself in over his head as he tries to balance academic and parental responsibilites. Zimmer will play Seeley's dean of the school. (more...)
