Route 66 Announces World Premiere of Diana Lawrence's NEXT STOP for 6/18-26

Route 66 Theatre Company has announced the details of their newest world premiere collaboration, a one-of-a-kind original musical by local sensation Diana Lawrence (of Diana and the Dishes, and currently musical director of TICK, TICK, BOOM at Porchlight Music Theatre). NEXT STOP runs Monday and Tuesday nights at 7:30pm, June 18-26, at Theater Wit, 1229 West Belmont Ave, Chicago IL. ( more...)

Mind The Gap Theatre Presents 'DEUTERANOMALY', 5/30-6/24

Mind The Gap Theatre will present Jessica Fleitmans comedy Deuteranomaly: A One-Act in Two Parts as part of the 4th Annual Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. The production will be directed by Mind The Gaps Artistic Director, Paula DAlessandris (Under The Blue Sky at The Kraine; The Cleric at 59E59). THE SLUTS OF SUTTON DRIVE Are Set for The Finborough Theatre, London, 24 June to 9 July

LOVE KNOTS to Premiere at Cincinnati Fringe Festival, 6/1

Four couplesgay, lesbian, biracial and white heteroshare separate tables in a restaurant. Each wants to start a family. Their overlapping dinner conversations soon turn to artificial insemination, adoption, and tubal ligation. Thus begins The Next Table, one of five one-act plays that comprise Love Knots (a love-fest of short plays) by playwright Philip Paradis, premiering at the 9th annual Cincinnati Fringe Festival, which runs May 29-June 9. FOOD AND FADWA Begins Previews at New York Theatre Workshop Tonight, 5/18

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo and Noor Theatre Artistic Director Lameece Isaaq, Executive Director Maha Chehlaoui, and Producing Director Nancy Vitale have announced that the world premiere of Food and Fadwa, written by Lameece Issaq and Jacob Kader, and directed by Shana Gold, begins performances tonight, Friday, May 18, 2012, at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. The opening night is scheduled for Thursday, June 7. Food and Fadwa is a co-production with Noor Theatre, a company-in-residence at New York Theatre Workshop. ( more...)

Artists Rep Honors Andrea Stolowitz with Folwer/Levin Prize

In early 2011, two longtime supporters of Artists Repertory Theatre approached Producing Artistic Director Allen Nause with a proposal to commission a new script to be produced and performed at Artists Rep. In January 2011, Artists Repertory Theatre invited playwrights from across the county to submit their ideas for the now-named Fowler/Levin Prize. Of the 14 playwrights who submitted proposals, Andrea Stolowitz's play concept was the unanimous choice by the artistic leadership at the theater.We are grateful to Stephanie Fowler and Irving Levin for supporting Artists Reps longstanding commitment to new work with their tremendously generous gift, said Allen Nause, Producing Artistic Director. "Andrea Stolowitz is an amazingly gifted playwright whose work I have long admired and I look forward to this new play with great excitement and anticipation!" ( more...)

The Peccadillo Theater Company announced complete casting today for the sold out industry reading of Sherri Hellers new comedy MY MOTHER, MY SISTER & ME, starring Valerie Harper, this Monday, May 14th at the DR2 Theatre (103 East 15th Street). The presentation will be directed by OBIE Award winner, Dan Wackerman. OCPA Studios Presents Reading of WATER CLOSET in Fullerton, 5/26

On May 26 @ 2:00pm, the Orange County Playwrights Alliance's OCPA Studios series returns to the Hunger Artists Theatre Company with the reading of Erica's Bennett's drama Water Closet. The resumption of the series also marks a new chapter: OCPA Studios is now a benefit series of play readings, with 100 percent of the box office going to the host theatres. ( more...)
