BWW Recap: SCREAM QUEENS Reminds Us to 'Beware of Young Girls'
by Gunnar Larson - Nov 3, 2015

After SCREAM QUEENS narrowed its focus two weeks ago to one plot, the show maintains a tight focus this week. There are two plots here instead of then, though. Grace and Pete go and search out Heather, a former Kappa sister, and the Chanels use a Ouija board to contact Chanel #2. These two threads both follow the main theme of the episode, and the show itself: surrounding danger drives normally innocent people to do bad things.

In this highly commended show, the aacclaimed singer and storyteller Kate Dimbleby, accompanied by Naadia Sheriff on piano, explores the extraordinary songbook & life story of cult favourite Dory Previn, the queen of 70's confessional songwriters who died on Valentine's Day 2012, 40 years after the release of her most successful album Mythical Kings and Iguanas. Kate & Naadia roam freely across great songs from the heart, songs of emancipation, sweet revenge and the life of a vastly under-appreciated songwriter with a relevant story for today.

Liz Mitchell Releases Her Second Album, 'Pretty House'
by Robert Diamond - Sep 14, 2012

'Pretty House' showcases Mitchell's ability to draw the listener in with her dreamy vocal quality and lyrics that really speak from the heart. Tracks such as "Rain Came Down" and "Tommy and Angela" bring a full range of emotion in her smooth vocal lines, contrasting dynamics, and clean mezzo-soprano tone. "Rain Came Down," the opening track sets the tone for the album with a feeling of hope and new beginnings, as she sings "but sweet is the sound of the rain, I let it wash all my trouble away." On the other side of the spectrum, "Tommy and Angela" is an honest recollection of two people struggling with alcohol and drugs. The melancholy chorus sings, "if you see them on the street, look the other way. It's not likely that you'll meet any other day." It is certain that Mitchell is a true songwriter, both musically and in her authentic lyrical style.
