Hollywood and indie film directors, comedian and philanthropist Dick Gregory, former Playboy chair Christie Hefner and the president of Sony Pictures Classics will join other celebrities, friends and colleagues to pay tribute to Roger Ebert's life and prolific career at 'Roger Ebert: A Celebration of Life,' this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Chicago Theatre, 175 N. Unearthed after more than forty years and unheard since their original airing, the recordings of Village Voice "Scenes" columnist and radio personality HoWard Smith are now available for the first time. Containing over 100 interviews, The Smith Tapes will be released in monthly installments on digital retailers iTunes and Amazon. Collection #1: Fillmore East was released on November 20 with Collection #2: Aquarian Theater due today, December 18. (more...)

Civil Rights icon Dick Gregory will be the featured speaker at the 10th Annual McLean Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, in the Alden Theatre. Sponsored by the McLean Community Center, the event will include a post-performance reception. Tickets are $20, $10 for MCC district residents. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.
