Buffalo Theatre Ensemble Returning to the MAC for 2016-17 Season

Buffalo Theatre Ensemble (BTE) returns this fall to the McAninch Arts Center, 425 Fawell Blvd. located on the campus of College of DuPage for the 30th Anniversary of the company's founding. The professional Equity company will resume its place as the MAC's resident theater company. The MAC is also home to the professional orchestra, New Philharmonic. For BTE season updates and ticket information will be available at AtTheMAC.org in the coming weeks. 'It's been a long hard struggle since the Ensemble went on hiatus in May 2014,' says BTE Artistic Director Connie Canaday Howard. 'But thanks to the tireless efforts of my fellow Ensemble members, Associate Artistic Director Amelia Barrett and the students, patrons and friends who advocated so strongly for us, BTE is now poised to begin an exciting new chapter in its life.'

May events with Bookworks include two important literary fundraisers. May 10 is the premier of a new literary series, A Word With Writers, where Bookworks collaborates with the Albuquerque Public Library Foundation to bring two renowned writers to the KiMo Theater. George RR Martin, author of the Game of Thrones series, and Diana Gabaldon, the creator of the Outlander series, will be in conversation discussing their respective popular series. The band Reviva will perform. This evening of entertainment is $7 for general admission and $20 for priority seating and signing, with all proceeds going to the Albuquerque Public Library Foundation.

The series is part of the MAC's 2014 Grand Opening season, marking the opening of the venue after a 14-month, $35 million renovation. The MAC's 2014 Grand Opening Season's Performance Series officially opens today, Feb. 8 with a performance by Grammy Award-winner 'Keb Mo'. Additional programming for the MAC, including the MAC's new Patio Stage summer season and the MAC's 2014-15 season, the first complete season in the newly renovated venue, will be announced in spring 2014.

McAninch Arts Center at COD Announces New Director Diana Martinez

College of DuPage has announced that McAninch Arts Center (MAC) Interim Director Diana Martinez has been named Director of the MAC. This announcement is effective immediately. Since September 2013, Martinez has served as the MAC's Interim Director following the departure of former MAC Director Stephen Cummins, who left the MAC in July 2013 to take a position at California State University, Chico.

MAC Completes Renovation this Month

McAninch Arts Center (MAC) located at 425 Fawell Blvd. on the campus of College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, completes its 14-month $35 million renovation this December. The MAC began major renovations in fall 2012 to update its three performance spaces, construct a new art gallery and outdoor patio stage, and make improvements to the infrastructure and patron service areas. Wight & Company, who served as the original architects of the McAninch Arts Center in 1986, returned to design the renovations. Construction for the MAC renovations is by Mortenson Construction, whose recent Chicago area projects include the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago as well as COD's Student Resource Center and Seaton Computing Center, among others.
