For generations, musical theatre writers have come to New York City to change the world. 'Once Upon A Time In New York City' is about the people who have changed THEM. This concert will feature musical theatre writers-ages 19 to 90-who were born everywhere from Kansas City to San Francisco to Montreal, established and emerging, each writing a song about someone who has changed their idea of New York City. Prospect Theatre Company presents FOOLS FOR LOVE, a one-night-only concert performance celebrating April Fool's Day, on Sunday April 1 at 7pm at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in the West Bank Cafe. Ticket prices for this event are $25 for regular general admission, $35 for premium reserved seating at the best tables in the house. In addition, there is a $15 food and beverage minimum for each guest; doors open for seating at 6:30pm.

Closing out Week One of the series was composer William Finn (Falsettos, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), along with guest vocalists, performing a song cycle inspired by the poetry of William Blake. For her October shows the title should have been Jamie deRoy & her very talented Songwriter friends. Jamie, as she always does, interacts with her guest artists in a way that stimulates them to give performances that are unique and hugely entertaining. As William Finn (who appeared in a prior Jamie deRoy & Friends) remarked, 'Jamie's interview of me was the best I've ever had'. The show was directed by Jamie's extremely creative friend Barry Kleinbort who also displayed his wonderful performance abilities. Music Director was Shelly Markham. (more...)
