The Metropolitan Opera has announced it has been awarded a $2 million grant from New York State to support its artistic and operational work.

The Canadian production of the international hit musical comedy & Juliet will end its run at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in August. The production will have played 277 performances and been seen by over 320,000 patrons.

Wharton Center will present & Juliet next week, from June 23–28, 2026, featuring songs by the legendary Grammy-winning songwriter/producer Max Martin, a book by the Emmy-winning writer from “Schitt's Creek'.

& Juliet offers a contemporary reimagining of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy, asking what might happen if Juliet chose a different path after Romeo’s death. Written by comedy genius David West Read (Schitt’s Creek), the musical blends Shakespearean characters with modern tastes and twists, exploring themes of self-discovery, independence, and second chances.

Broadway Across Canada has announced that tickets for & Juliet will go on sale this week for eight performances this fall in Vancouver at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

& Juliet is a jukebox musical that premiered in Manchester in 2019 before opening in London’s West End later that year. Created by writer David West Read, with a score made up of pop hits by Max Martin, it reimagines Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet through a modern, feminist lens. The show later transferred to Broadway in 2022.

& JULIET will play the Broadway in Birmingham series at BJCC Concert Hall. The North American tour features songs by Max Martin. The musical reimagines Juliet’s story.
