NJTV, New Jersey's public television network, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC)  presented the first performance of the American Songbook at NJPAC series and BroadwayWorld was there. Performances will be taped before a live audience in NJPAC's Victoria Theater on Sunday, October 25 and Monday, October 26 for broadcast on NJTV, WLIW and THIRTEEN next year. 

BroadwayWorld has learned that with almost 3,000 performances and now in its eighth year in Chicago, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, Chicago's longest-running Broadway musical, is set to close on January 17, 2016.

I'm all for a tribute to a wonderful composer such as Stephen Schwartz. But the new musical 'Snapshots' currently playing at Village Theatre feels less like a tribute and more like theft. OK, maybe theft is too strong of a word since Schwartz is aware of the show and has given his blessing but it's definitely appropriating someone else's good works with not much new to say.

There is an additional 4 p.m. show on March 15. The March 21 will be sign language interpreted by students of the CCBC Catonsville American Sign Language Certification program. Show tickets are $10. Tickets can be purchased by calling the CCBC Box Office, 443-840-ARTS Tuesday - Friday from 9 am to 3 pm, or online at www.cpmarts.org. Group tickets are also available.

Hailed as “one of the most eagerly anticipated premieres of the season” (WQXR), the unprecedented new production is one of several original projects designed to bring opera to a wider audience at the Florida house, which remains one of American opera's most inspirational recent success stories. Highlighting the company's creative audience engagement initiatives, ticket prices have been substantially lowered on more than 600 seats per performance this season, and tickets for family concerts reduced to a single flat fee of just $5, giving an unprecedented level of accessibility to Palm Beach Opera's current offerings.
