Artistic Director Rick Dildine and Executive Director Todd Schmidt have announced the 2019-2020 Festival Season at Alabama Shakespeare Festival, which features 13 productions that explore stories of contemporary culture, heroic revolutionaries, societal transformation, and lyrical legends. Captivating, collaborative storytelling remains at the heart of ASF. In its 48th season, the theatre continues its mission of embracing community through transformative theatrical events.

A comic tale of unlikely love and blood will unfold on the stage of New York's Signature Theatre, Monday, July 29, when the New York Musical Festival presents ALIVE! The ZOMBIE Musical. The one night only concert, featuring zombies, singing fairies, dancing oracles and magic portals, will be held at the 480 W. 42nd Street venue at 8 p.m.

Chick Flick the Musical, the new musical comedy with book, music and lyrics by Suzy Conn and directed by David Ruttura will close at The Westside Theatre on Sunday, March 16, 2019. At the time of closing, the show will have played 11 previews and 12 performances.  

While this reviewer is always up for a tub of popcorn and a screening of 'Crossing Delancey' or 'Muriel's Wedding,' Suzy Conn's spirited CHICK FLICK, THE MUSICAL is more accurately aimed at connoisseurs of the genre; those whose everyday conversation is packed with quotes from Nora Ephron screenplays and who are experts at determining which chardonnays go with Barbra and which with Meryl.

It's Memphis, Tennessee and disc jockey Huey Calhoun is showcasing a bright new singer and musical style on his radio show. The hip new sound of Felicia Farrell becomes a hit over the airwaves and the amateur is ultimately headed for stardom. Rhinebeck Writers Retreat is presenting the first reading of the new musical, BHANGIN' IT, book by Rehana Lew Mirza and Mike Lew and music and lyrics by Sam Willmott, on May 1 in New York City for an invited industry audience. The reading includes actors Shoba Narayan (Natasha Pierre & The Great Comet), Tony Sheldon (Amelie), Dan Rosales (Spamilton), Angel Desai (Company), and Salena Qureshi.  The reading is directed by David Ruttura (School of Rock) and music directed by James Dobinson (The View UpStairs).
