Renovated Public Theater to Include New Lounge

This fall The Public Theater will unveil its revitalized downtown home as the Company celebrates a milestone year that also includes the 50th anniversary of the Delacorte Theater, home to Shakespeare in the Park. The revitalization will transform the lobby into a piazza where audiences, artists, and the public will engage with one another. A central element of the project is the addition of The Library at The Public Theater, a new lounge serving food and drinks on the lobbyÂ’s expanded mezzanine level. The Library at The Public Theater is named in honor of the landmark buildingÂ’s original use as the Astor Library, New York CityÂ’s first public library. ( more...)

THE NORMAL HEART Tour Kicks Off A.C.T.'s 2012-2013 Season, 9/13

Full Cast Announced for THE NORMAL HEART Tour!

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater produces the 2011 Tony Award-winning production of Larry KramerÂ’s The Normal Heart, directed by George C. Wolfe. Wolfe, who directed the showÂ’s sold-out Broadway engagement last season, mounts the professional D.C.-area premiere of this production, which features returning Broadway cast members Patrick Breen and Luke MacFarlane, among others. Presented by special arrangement with Daryl Roth, The Normal Heart runs June 8-July 29, 2012 in the Kreeger Theater. ( more...)

Today in 2005, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels openend at the Imperial Theatre, where it ran for 627 performances.Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a Broadway musical, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek and a book by Jeffrey Lane; it is based on the 1988 film of the same name. The director was Jack O'Brien, choreographer was Jerry Mitchell, scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg carves, and lighting design was by Kenneth Posner. BREAKING: LEGALLY BLONDE To Close At Savoy, April 7

After almost 1000 West End manicures, perms and make-overs, Legally Blonde The Musical will have its final performance at the Savoy Theatre on Saturday 7 April 2012, when principal contracts end. The production now in its third year has transformed the Savoy Theatre into a pink haven for Elle and her sorority girlfriends. Legally Blonde The Musical opened in December 2009 to rave reviews and the show went on to win seven theatre awards including the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical. Legally Blonde The Musical continues its tour of the UK and plans are in place for an Australian production to open in Sydney later this year. ( more...)
