THE PRIVATE EAR and THE PUBLIC EYE, by the acclaimed and multi-award winning British playwright Sir Peter Shaffer, will have their first major revival in 50 years, when they begin a nationwide tour from 29 August 2013, with a national press night at Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre on Friday 6 September. Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is wrapping up its 2012-13, 15th anniversary mainstage season with a new World Premiere comedy Pickle My Monkey. Like David Mamet teaming up with the Marx Brothers to write their own apocalyptic version of The Comedy of Errors, Pickle My Monkey is a truly surreal farce. Sexy, madcap, odd, and modern, the show featuring a loaded gun, a briefcase full of cash and a talking chimp, promises to be inventive, original, and fun! Celebration Theatre has announced an added show to its Celebratory 30th Anniversary Season, the Los Angeles Premiere of a new play, AT THE FLASH, written by Sean Chandler and David Leeper, performed by David Leeper and directed by David Zak. AT THE FLASH began previews on Wednesday, May 15th and will open on Friday, May 17th and will perform through Sunday, May 26th at the Celebration Theatre, 7051b Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood. Val Kilmer, famous for his portrayals of iconic characters such as Jim Morrison (The Doors), Doc Holliday (Tombstone) and Batman (Batman Forever), inhabits the spirit of yet another legendary figure: Mark Twain. Kilmer continues to develop Citizen Twain, a solo show about the man considered to be the world's greatest storyteller, at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, June 28 to July 14 for a limited three-week engagement, followed by this fall by performances in London's West End. Closing Aurora Theatre Company's 21st season is the Bay Area Premiere of Neil LaBute's dark, edgy comic drama THIS IS HOW IT GOES, directed by Aurora Theatre Company Artistic Director Tom Ross (A Delicate Balance). Ross helmed LaBute's The Shape of Things, the first LaBute play produced in the Bay Area, in 2003. Featuring Aldo Billingslea (Collapse), Gabriel Marin (Collapse, Jack Goes Boating), and Carrie Paff (A Delicate Balance, Collapse, Betrayal), THIS IS HOW IT GOES presents a one-two punch after LaBute's Fat Pig (staged at Aurora in 2009). BWW Reviews: A Chick and A Dude Productions Revives Dark Drama HIT

In the second act of Hit, currently playing at Hyde Park Theatre and produced by A Chick and A Dude Productions, the tough, dangerous Asher states that the identity of the hit man has changed over the years. No longer are hit men Italian goons who kowtow to an old guy by kissing his ring or conniving thugs making offers no one can refuse. That idea of the true identity of a hit man is the clear focus of Hit, the gritty, daring drama written by and starring Shanon Weaver, Co-Artistic Director of A Chick and A Dude. Hit effortlessly goes underneath the tough guy exterior and reminds us that even killers-for-hire have a heart and a moral compass. They too can feel love and compassion, and they too have families.
