Confirmed! GODSPELL to Perform at 2012 Tony Awards

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that the revival of GODSPELL on Broadway, despite a lack of Tony nominations, will make an appearance on the 2012 broadcast to perform a selection from the musical. At this time, there is no official word or confirmation on who, or what the cast will be performing.

Universal Pictures Stage Productions/Glenn Ross, Beacon Communications/Armyan Bernstein and Charlie Lyons and Executive Producers Kristin Caskey and Mike Isaacson announced today that the new musical comedy Bring It On: The Musical will open on Broadway on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at The St. James Theatre (246 W. 44th Street) direct from a 13-city National Tour, for a 12-week limited engagement through Sunday, October 7, 2012. In 1994 Anthony Rapp was working at a Starbucks and about to audition for Rent a new musical by a young guy named Jonathan Larson. An inspiring story about friends and artists struggling in New Yorks Lower East Side, it was based loosely on Puccinis La Bohème. Anthony got the part, but Jonathan died suddenly the night before the musicals off-Broadway premiere. ( more...)

Broadway's ANNIE Names Orphans!

After more than 5,000 auditions in a coast-to-coast search, ANNIE has announced casting for the orphans for the new production of the classic Tony Award-winning Broadway musical. ANNIE will open on Broadway in Fall 2012 at a Nederlander theatre to be announced. The production will be directed by three-time Tony Award winner James Lapine and choreographed by Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler. ( more...)
