Manhattan Theatre Club will celebrate Artistic Director Lynne MeadowÂ’s 40th anniversary as the visionary and artistic leader of the organization with a special tribute on Monday, June 18. The event will begin at 6:30 PM with a VIP cocktail reception, followed by a 7:30 tribute event at the Samuel J. Friedman (261 West 47th Street). Shakespeare Theatre of NJ Kicks Off 50th Season with HENRY IV, PART ONE, 5/30-6/24

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will launch its 2012 milestone 50th Anniversary season with William Shakespeare’s saga of a young prince’s reformation and ascent to manhood – Henry IV, Part One. Considered one of Shakespeare’s most popular history plays, this rousing tale has not been produced on The Shakespeare Theatre stage in 20 years. Henry IV, Part One begins performances on May 30 and runs through June 24 at the Theatre’s Main Stage – the F. M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre. "What can I say other than that I'm delighted! I woke up this morning and my wife said '8:30 huh?' and I said, 'Oh! Maybe we should watch.' It's really not everyday that an erotic diversion gets a nod from the Tony Awards. I think that's pretty unusual. I've already celebrated by sitting down at my writing table and going to work! I'm going to see CLYBOURNE PARK tonight, so that will be my celebration. That and a martini."

Last night, April 24, Carnegie Hall presented its gala benefit performance of The Sound of Music in the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. The cast was led by Laura Osnes (Maria Rainer), Tony Goldwyn (Captain von Trapp), Brooke Shields (Elsa Schraeder), Patrick Page (Max Detweiler), Stephanie Blythe (The Mother Abbess), Mary Michael Patterson (Liesl von Trapp), Nick Spangler (Rolf Gruber), Cotter Smith (Herr Zeller), and Reed Birney (Admiral von Schreiber). They were joined by and Joel Hatch (Franz, The Butler), Joy Hermalyn (Sister Berthe), Linda Mugleston (Sister Margaretta), Faith Sherman (Sister Sophia), and Veanne Cox (Frau Schmidt).
