Acclaimed singer-songwriter Rachael Yamagata, 'the troubadour of heartbreak', will launch a tour in support of her latest EP, Heavyweight. Digitally released in November of 2012, the Heavyweight EP is now available in stores. Yamagata's set on the Dealbreaker Heart Tour will be stripped down and intimate, and will showcase her stunning songwriting and the raw emotional power of her songs. Yamagata recently returned from a successful string of SOLD OUT shows in Southeast Asia, with stops in Seoul, Korea, Bangkok, Thailand and Singapore, Singapore. (more...)

The Academy’s Adds 8 Members to Tech Council by Movies News Desk - Nov 15, 2012
Doug Cooper, Paul Debevec, Ray Feeney, Josh Pines, David Stump, Steve Sullivan, Bill Taylor and Beverly Wood have accepted invitations to join the Science and Technology Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, bringing the Council's 2012-2013 membership roster to 25. Doug Cooper is a visual effects supervisor at DreamWorks Animation whose credits include "Shrek Forever After," "Bee Movie" and "Shark Tale." He has been a member of the Academy's Short Films and Feature Animation Branch since 2008.

Tickets go on sale today for Lincoln Center's 24th season of Midsummer Night Swing taking place Tuesdays through Saturdays, June 26-July 14. Swing's 15 dazzling nights of dancing, and one free daytime lesson for children, take place at the bandshell and elevated dance floor in Damrosch Park, on West 62nd Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues. Midsummer Night Swing offers an array of dance music styles including salsa, swing, tango, rock 'n' roll, and bhangra. Because of the national holiday there will be no Swing on July 4th, so a special Monday night will be added on July 2nd. (more...)
