Joe Mantello Signs on for Ryan Murphy's Adaptation of THE NORMAL HEART

The Tony-nominated actor, who portrayed 'Ned Weeks' in the recent Broadway revival of Larry Kramer's THE NORMAL HEART, has officially signed on for the Ryan Murphy-helmed adaptation for HBO. Mantello will take on the role of 'Mickey Marcus.' The actor joins previously announced cast members Julia Roberts, Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Jim Parson, and Taylor Kitsch. (more...)

Glee's 500th Song SHOUT to Benefit Give A Note Foundation

Since its debut in 2009, FOX's Glee has been firmly committed to supporting and promoting music education in schools. Glee continues to give back with the celebration of their 500 th musical performance, an exhilarating rendition of 'Shout,' originally featured in the classic comedy Animal House. In honor of this monumental achievement, Columbia Records and Twentieth Century Fox Television will give 100% of their net proceeds from U.S. downloads of the single 'Shout' starting March 5 th through the end of the season to the GiveA Note Foundation. On Thursday, March 7, FOX rocks with an evening of music that kicks off with a special 90-minute episode of AMERICAN IDOL (8:00-9:30 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) when America's votes are tallied and the Season 12 finalists are revealed LIVE. Then, in a special extended prime, GLEE (9:30-10:30 PM ET/PT) takes center stage and celebrates "Animal House"-style, when the members of New Directions perform the classic R&B hit "Shout," marking the hit series' 500th musical performance. In honor of comedy legend Carl Reiner's 75 years in the business, Center Theatre Group presented a staged reading of "Enter Laughing, The Musical," which is inspired by Reiner's experiences as a young man struggling to break into theatre in New York. The one night only event directed by Stuart Ross ("Forever Plaid"), was performed at the Mark Taper Forum on Monday, January 28, 2013. Box office receipts were $290,000 and proceeds from this special event benefit CTG programs that support emerging artists.
