Organized and overseen by the Joe Allen Academy of Arts & Bitching (JAAAB), 'The Joeys' are a set of awards given annually for excellence in food service and patronage at New York's City's famous Times Square celebrity hot-spots: Joe Allen, Orso and Bar Centrale.

Friedlich will see the World Premiere of his searing drama SleepOver in this year's renowned New York International Fringe Festival. Developed in tandem with New York Theatre Workshopand Stephen Sondheim's Young Playwright's Program, the full-length play dives headlong into the emotional minefield two New York teens face as they explore the boundaries of school pressures, race, class and the challenges of friendship in modern-day New York City.

On February 18 and 19, La MaMa will host an open house, 'New Voices Heard,' featuring a sampling of eight plays that were developed during the summer of 2008 in the La MaMa Umbria International Playwrights Retreat. This free event will take place at La MaMa La Galleria, 6 East First Street, Manhattan (between Second Avenue and Bowery), Manhattan. Admission is free. Excerpts of eight plays will be presented. Seven will be staged readings and one will be fully acted.
