Yesterday, May 24, Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein hosted a special Birthday party on to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Little / Helen Hayes Theatre, which opened on March 12, 1912 with John Galsworthy’s play The Pigeon. To coincide with Isadora Duncan’s 135th birthday May 26, 2012, Lori Belilove & The Isadora Duncan Dance Company will honor the mother of modern dance by offering a week of performances May 22-26. The six performances of the program The Art of Isadora will offer a retrospective on the life and art of Isadora Duncan, including signature solos and group works performed with live piano accompaniment by Matthew Ward. One of the greatest joys of our job is seeing our audiences transformed by a theatre performance. At some point in Roundabout’s 46-year history, you’ve likely experienced a play or musical that has inspired you. Roundabout has been fortunate to produce award-winning productions on Broadway for 20 years now. You may even recall our first Broadway production of Anna Christie at the Criterion Center in 1992. The performance, starring Dana Ivey (The Help, Importance of Being Earnest), Rebecca Brooksher (The Good Wife), Betsy Aidem (Dreams of Flying Dreams of Falling), Chad Hoeppner (Come Back Little Sheba, Butley) Neal Huff (When I Come to Die, The Little Dog Laughed) and Pamela Nyberg (Doubt tour) will be followed by a reception with the cast and director, Jodie Markell (The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond). Roundabout Theatre Company is presenting three-time Tony Award® winner Frank Langella as "Gregor Antonescu" in Terence Rattigan's drama Man and Boy, directed by Maria Aitken. Acclaimed theater company Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced it will once again present its popular, annual benefit evening STORIES ON 5 STORIES. This year's event, set for Monday evening, October 17, will feature new works by seven of the theater's alumni writers: Tanya Barfield (Blue Door at PH), Bathsheba Doran (Kin at PH), Obie Award winner Daniel Goldfarb (The Retributionists at PH), Eric Overmyer (The Heliotrope Bouquet... at PH), Jonathan Marc Sherman (Sophistry at PH), Jeanine Tesori (Violet at PH) and Alfred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy at PH). Each play will be performed in a different, unconventional space throughout all five stories of Playwrights Horizons' home at 416 West 42nd Street, and the entire evening will benefit the company's developmental programs and productions.
