Last night Theatre20 hosted A Tase of 20: A Speakeasy Social at The National Club. The venue was transformed into a Speakeasy ('Singeasy') lounge where patrons got a 'taste' of what's coming up next for Theatre 20! Performers included founding artists Adam Brazier, Brent Carver and Nora McLellan, a Sondheim Jazz Project, Cadence, the Upper Canada Chorus and Theatre 20's 2014 Emerging Artist Ensemble.

Theatre 20's highly-anticipated production of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's Company will play the Berkeley Street Theatre Downstairs from June 21 to July 13, 2014. Artistic Board Chair Adam Brazier today announced the creative team and revealed that the role of 'Robert' will be played by Theatre 20 Founding Artist Dan Chameroy.

On Tuesday morning members of the press and the Toronto theatre community gathered at the historic Royal Alexandra Theatre to join David Mirvish in celebrating fifty years of the Mirvish family producing theatre in Toronto. The theatre was packed with people eager to hear what new shows were being added on to the previously announced 50th Anniversary Season, but also excited to celebrate the extensive contributions Mirvish have made to the city of Toronto and to our theatre community.

Last February, BWW announced that Les Miserables would be kicking off Mirvish Productions exciting 50th Anniversary season in Toronto! Also announced at that time were Aladdin, Once, Arrabal, Metamorphosis, Heartbeat of Home and The Last Confession, as well as Dead Metaphor and God of Carnage as part of the Off-Mirvish season. This morning, Torontonians were treated to a very special media event which both celebrated the Mirvish family's commitment to Toronto theatre over the past fifty years, and also announced exciting new additions to the milestone season, effectively making it the largest season the company has ever mounted.

Albert Schultz, Founding Artistic Director of Soulpepper Theatre Company, previously released details about Soulpepper's 2013 four-show spring lineup, comprised of: Sam Shepard's True West; a new adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler's La Ronde by Jason Sherman; a fresh adaptation of The Barber of Seville by Michael O'Brien with music by John Millard; and Ins Choi's Kim's Convenience. True West and La Ronde begin this month; The Barber of Seville and Kim's Convenience open in May.
