Irondale Announces 2013 Summer Theater Camps by BWW News Desk - Mar 04, 2013
Irondale is excited to announce its 2013 Summer Theater Camp! Camp will be a collection of one-day workshops and two-week sessions will keep students' minds engaged and their bodies moving by providing a nurturing, safe, and dynamic artistic environment. Lead by professional Irondale Artists, young actors can choose between classes that explore acting and improvisation, movement and dance, character creation, storytelling, playwriting, and even stage design. We encourage students to explore the power of creativity and develop an artistic voice. The work will be rooted in the Irondale tradition of theatre games and improvisation and will be created in the spirit of diversity and community building. All sessions conclude with a performance for family and friends. (more...)

This family friendly presentation of "Tomato Plant Girl", directed by Amanda Hinkle and performed by the members of the Irondale Ensemble and the IronDale Young Company, is written by Fort Greene resident and national playwright Wesley Middleton and is a magical story about closeness, compromise, and growth that explores the question of what it means to have, and be, a friend.
