On April 6, Their Most Imperial and Sovereign Majesties, Emperor XXI Ritz Kraka and Empress XXVI Witti Repartee, presented The Night of a Thousand Gowns -- a dazzling display of regal glamour, an opportunity to celebrate the LGBT community, and in particular, the colorful cross-dressing segment of that community. In its twenty-seven year history the Imperial Court of New York has donated over 1.5 million dollars to worthy LGBT, HIV/AIDS and youth enrichment related causes. The internationally acclaimed musical sensation PINK MARTINI will bring their unique and highly praised vocal stylings to The McCallum Theatre for a 'one night only' concert tonight, September 8 at 8:00 pm. Drawing inspiration from music from all over the world - crossing genres of classical, jazz and old-fashioned pop - Pink Martini's diverse repertoire is a blend influenced by Cole Porter and Duke Ellington, Tito Puente and Xavier Cugat, as well as Argentine tango, Brazilian samba, Italian folk, Asian and romantic Hollywood musicals of the 1940s and '50s. The Night of a Thousand Gowns celebrating the LGBT community - the colorful cross-dressing segment of that community -took place on Saturday, March 31 in New York City. In its twenty-six year history, the Court has donated over a million dollars to worthy LGBT, HIV/AIDS and youth enrichment related causes. This year the Night of a Thousand Gowns raised important funds to benefit PFLAG NYC and New Alternatives. BWW was there to cover this event. Check out the red carpet photos below!
