Santa Fe Playhouse (SFP) presents the Southwestern premiere of David Stallings' The Baby Monitor, directed by SFP's Executive Director Colin Hovde (DC's Theater Alliance).

Teatro Paraguas will present 26 Miles, a play by Quiara Alegria Hides about an estranged Latina mother and her White Jewish teenage daughter who find themselves on a spontaneous road trip to discover one another — and see the buffalo in Yellowstone.

Teatro Paraguas will present a video performance of The Book of Magdalene, a play by Caridad Svich for two in-person screenings at Teatro Paraguas.  The play, filmed in Teatro Paraguas in June and directed by Juliet Salazar, features Alix Hudson as Magdalene, a young woman in a twilight— possibly apocalyptic— world.

Typhoon, part of Teatro Paraguas' local playwrights series, is a 10-minute sketch by Alix Hudson. A silly Valentine's story originally created for  Ironweed Production’s memorable 2016 site-specific production Creating a Scene in a Restaurant, Typhoon makes its Zoom premiere at 7pm on February 12th.

Red Bike, directed by Juliet Salazar and presented by Teatro Paraguas, took a different, and decidedly more cinematic route, resulting in an engrossing piece of socially distanced theatre.

Even though the subject matter is heavy, Elliot, a Soldier's Fugue, part one of the Elliot Trilogy by Quiara Alegria Hughes, left me with a light feeling at the end. I was looking forward to part two, Water By the Spoonful, this week, hopeful for a similar experience. Part two was a whole other experience and this time, the heaviness did not subside at the conclusion.

Ironweed Productions presents Water by the Spoonful by Quiara Alegría Hudes as part of a collaboration with Teatro Paraguas and the Santa Fe Playhouse to bring her three-play cycle, The Elliot Trilogy, to Santa Fe. Ironweed's production, directed by Valli Marie Rivera, will run October 3rd through October 20th.
