Punk band Green Day released the groundbreaking album American Idiot in 2004 to huge sales and worldwide acclaim, listening to the album it was very clear that a story was created with characters and situations, the album had a narrative, something to say. So it was not surprising when a new rock/punk musical based around the album (and the follow up) was announced for Broadway, what is surprising however is the end result, in the simplest of terms American Idiot the Musical is one of the most important musicals of the last decade and by far one of the best. Written by Neil Ely and directed by Lloyd Eyre-Morgan, and set in the early 1980s, the play focuses on free-spirited Amber, from Manchester living in Eastbourne, working as a waitress for the summer season. 9 TO 5 - UK Premiere Review, Manchester Opera House by Craig Hepworth - Oct 20, 2012
With this new UK production (which is not so much new as a slightly altered version of the US tour with the same set) they had the chance to sort out the problems that plagued a show that is dying to break out, sadly the problems are more noticeable than ever.

Vertigo Bring The Original Hit Thriller 'M' Back To The Stage in Manchester by Craig Hepworth - Oct 08, 2012
After scoring rave reviews in September with their world premiere stage adaptation of EXAM (which has had interest from major New York producers) the team are bringing back one of their biggest original hits 'M', a trashy thriller that pays homage to films such as Cruel Intentions and Wild Things as well as tipping its hat to stage thrillers of the 1940s and 50s. Now Vertigo have opened a new off shoot company called Gen-X Theatre productions that is dedicated to bringing edgier and more diverse work to the stage. The off shoot company is owned by Vertigo but run by 2 of the Vertigo founders Craig Hepworth and Karl Burge as well as Richard Allen and Stuart Reeve and will premiere their debut play this coming September at the Three Minute Theatre. The first play is the UK Premiere stage version of 'EXAM' a psychological thriller based on the British film by Stuart Hazeldine. (more...)

UK Premiere Of DIE, MOMMIE, DIE! Returns As Part Of Manchester Pride 2011 by BWW

Award-nominated Vertigo Theatre Productions recently had the great honour of producing the UK Premiere Productions of Legendary writer/performer Charles Busch's Off Broadway (and movie) camp masterpieces ‘Die, Mommie, Die! and Psycho Beach Party. Both productions smashed box office records for Vertigo and audience members chose the 2 shows (along with Vertigo's original drama OUT!) as their favourite shows by the company. (more...)
