Cornelia Street Cafe presents CCi's Serial Underground featuring The Life I'm Leading: Music of Daniel Felsenfeld including several premieres on Sunday, June 2nd at 6pm. Guest Artists include flutists Meerenai Shim (California based), Jessica Schmitz and Sarah Carrier, pianists Blair McMillen and Mila Henry, cellist Rose Bellini, soprano Marcy Richardson and violist Stephanie Griffin. As part of its 2012-2013 producing Season, HERE will present You Are Dead. You Are Here. Together, playwright Christine Evans, director Joseph Megel and media designer Jared Mezzocchi have formed Transit Lounge, and You Are Dead. You Are Here. marks the company's debut production. This world premiere plays a limited engagement June 5-22, with Official Opening Night on Sunday, June 9 at 8:30PM at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, just below Spring Street). (more...)

Rebecca Lazier's COMING TOGETHER/ATTICA to Debut at The Invisible Dog, 6/13

On Thursday, June 13 (7 + 9 pm) at The Invisible Dog in Brooklyn, choreographer Rebecca Lazier and indie-classical ensemble Newspeak present the first US performances of Coming Together/Attica, a site-specific setting of Frederic Rzewski's iconic minimalist scores written following the 1971 prison riots in upstate New York. Lazier's dancers are Rashaun Mitchell and Silas Riener (formerly of Merce Cunningham Dance Company); Asli Bulbul, most recently from Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company; Jennifer Lafferty, who is featured in the work of Beth Gill and Yasuko Yokoshi; Pierre Guilbault; and Christopher Ralph. (more...)

This premiere marks the culmination of a residency in the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP). The Brooklyn Philharmonic presents its 2013 OUTSIDE-IN Chamber Concert on Wednesday, May 1 at 8:00PM at Galapagos Art Space in DUMBO, Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Phil Chamber Players will premiere brand new string quartets from this season's Outside-In Fellows, all Brooklyn residents: Jesse Krakow, Toshi Reagon and Hadi Eldebek. The program also features a new work about life in Nepal created by resident Composer-Mentor Randall Woolf with a film by Mary Harron and John C. David T. Little's SOLDIER SONGS Gets Digital Release Today

On Tuesday, February 26, the debut recording of David T. Little's 'sharp, elegantly bristling' opera-theatre piece, Soldier Songs (2006), which recently completed a wildly successful NYC premiere run on the inaugural PROTOTYPE festival, is released on audio CD from Innova Recordings, produced by Lawson White. The OBIE-winning HERE proudly announces the line-up for its annual CULTUREMART festival, this year running January 28 - February 10. CULTUREMART makes process the focus, presenting work in various stages of development from the boundary-breaking artists in the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP). CULTUREMART provides a platform for HARP artists to blur the lines between dance, theater, music, multimedia, puppetry and visual art, on their journey to mainstage productions. This two-week festival, distilling the curatorial visions of artistic directors Kristin Marting (of HERE), Beth Morrison (of BMP), and Kim Whitener (of HERE), features visionary music-theatre and opera-theatre works by pioneering artists from NYC and around the world.
