Last night, April 8th, producer Marty Richards' feast of friends and loved ones gathered in celebration of his extremely accomplished life at The Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street) where they were entertained by a star-studded retrospective of show-stopping numbers from Mr. Richards' acclaimed Broadway musicals including Chicago, On The Twentieth Century, The Life, Grand Hotel, Sweeney Todd, La Cage Aux Folles, Sweet Smell Of Success, The Will Rogers Follies and Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life.

SXSW Music Conference and Festival Kicks Off Today

The 27th annual South By Southwest Music Conference and Festival commences today, March 12 and runs through Sunday, March 17. In what has become an annual milestone for the music world, an estimated 20,000 convention attendees and thousands of performing musicians will journey to Austin, Texas, to immerse themselves in every aspect of music and its attendant business. The activities in the Austin Convention Center, which begin today March 12th are a valuable resource that cater to music industry professionals. By day, the 190 conference sessions will include rare glimpses into the business acumen of notable industry professionals who have successfully navigated the music world for many years. (more...)

mtvU Honors Nashville College Band The Lonely Biscuits with Woodie Award

MTV's 24-hour college network, mtvU, announced today that The Lonely Biscuits from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee took home the first-ever Chevrolet Sonic College Artist Woodie Award, which honors the best emerging musicians on campus. After winning the online voting competition, the band will hit the road to open the “2013 mtvU Woodie Awards” at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas on March 14. Later that day, HAIM, Timeflies, Trinidad Jame$, Travi$ Scott, Alt-J, Jake Bugg, and Joey Bada$$ will perform at the “Woodie Awards Festival,” and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, as well as twenty one pilots will take the stage at the “mtvU Woodie Awards,” with additional performers to be announced. MTV and mtvU will air the “2013 Woodie Awards” special, hosted by Tegan and Sara and Machine Gun Kelly, on Sunday, March 17 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, and viewers will get a glimpse of The Lonely Biscuits during the half-hour show.
