Nominee Reactions: David Ives - 'Not everyday that an erotic diversion gets a nod from the Tony Awards'
by BWW - May 01, 2012

"What can I say other than that I'm delighted! I woke up this morning and my wife said '8:30 huh?' and I said, 'Oh! Maybe we should watch.' It's really not everyday that an erotic diversion gets a nod from the Tony Awards. I think that's pretty unusual. I've already celebrated by sitting down at my writing table and going to work! I'm going to see CLYBOURNE PARK tonight, so that will be my celebration. That and a martini." (more...)

by BWW - May 01, 2012

"It's wonderful. Very excited. I was woken up with the news so I didn't even have to get nervous, which was nice. But since I found out it's a whirlwind - my phone and Facebook page and email have been blowing up with hundreds of messages, some from people I haven't heard from in several years. But my agent says that my first order of business is to get myself cleaned up so I supposed I have to go out and buy some new clothes today!" (more...)

Nominee Reactions: Jeremy Shamos for CLYBOURNE PARK 'Fart Hug'
by BWW - May 01, 2012

Jeremy Shamos Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for Clybourne Park "I'd like to say I was so cool this morning and that I slept through the nominations but that's definitely not true. I woke up at 7 with kids and made them turn off their cartoons so I could watch the broadcast, which they thought was boring. The we heard my name called and we started jumping around and had a group hug, which included a whoopi cushion my daughter snuck in the middle so it turned into a fart hug. it still all feels a bit surreal and I'm still processing I guess, so much so that when I dropped my kids off at school a teacher pointed out that my shirt was inside out. But this is all very exciting and I'm just happy that the show got the nominations that it did. Mine is just icing on the cake." (more...)
