2013 Queen's Birthday Honours Recognize ATG's Howard Panter, National Theatre's Nick Starr, Actor Rowan Atkinson and More

The Queen's Birthday Honors were published today, June 15, 'in recognition of the achievements and service of extraordinary people right across the United Kingdom.' Among the honors is a knighthood for Ambassador Theatre Group's owner and producer Howard Panter, who heads ATG's group of 39 theaters, including the recent addition of Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre, which houses SPIDER-MAN. James Judd Named New Music Director of The Little Orchestra Society

After an extensive international search, The Little Orchestra Society is excited to announce the appointment of James Judd as its new Music Director, effective June 1st. Mr. Judd will work closely with The Little Orchestra Society's Executive Director Joanne Bernstein-Cohen and its Board to advance the Orchestra's mission of producing innovative and extraordinary classical music programming for audiences of all ages. Mr. Judd becomes only the third Music Director of The Little Orchestra Society in its 65-year history. (more...)

Tony Award-winning actor Brent Carver returns to Broadway this August, to play Friar Laurence in the new Broadway production of Shakespeare's timeless love story ROMEO AND JULIET, starring international film star Orlando Bloom and Tony Award nominee Condola Rashad as Shakespeare's titular star-crossed lovers. Tony Award winner Chuck Cooper also joins the cast, taking on the role of Lord Capulet, in place of the previously announced Joe Morton, who is unable to continue with the production due to scheduling conflicts with his recurring role on a television series. According to the New York Times, Shakespeare's classic romatic tradgedy Romeo and Juliet is coming back to Broadway this summer. Helmed by David Leveaux, the production will star Tony nominee Condola Rashad and Orlando Bloom- making his Broadway debut in the role. Joining them in the play, which is set to open on September 19 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, will be Jayne Houdyshell as the Nurse and Joe Morton as Lord Capulet. (more...)

Violinist and artistic director Gil Morgenstern's acclaimed Reflections Series continues the 2012-2013 season on Tuesday, February 26 and Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 7:30pm with The Voice of the Violin, Part 2. Celebrating five years of innovative programming in its intimate home at WMP Concert Hall (31 East 28th Street, NYC), Morgenstern will be joined by pianist Benjamin Hochman. The Voice of the Violin, Part 2 expands on the theme of Gil Morgenstern's opening concert at WMP in 2010. Mr. Morgenstern has crafted a second program showcasing the singularly expressive range of the violin and the diverse manner in which composers have exploited it. The program includes: Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 1 in D Major; Webern's Four Pieces for violin and piano, Op. 7; selections from Bach's Partita in E Major for solo violin; Eugene Ysa˙e' Obsession: Prelude from Sonata No. 2 for solo violin; selections from Bartók's Improvisations on Hungarian Peasant Songs; and Ravel's Tzigane. Jerry Lewis to Return to Big Screen in MAX ROSE
