The Drama League honored Golden Globe Nominee and Emmy® Award winner Neil Patrick Harris last night at the 30th Annual Musical Celebration of Broadway at the famed Pierre Hotel (2 East 61st Street). The evening's one-of-a-kind all-star tribute, hosted by Emmy®, Grammy, Oscar and Tony® Award winner, Whoopi Goldberg, featured dozens of celebrities from Hollywood and Broadway in a one-night-only evening of musical selections drawn from Mr. Harris' career in theater, film and television, co-directed by Tony® Award winner and Drama League Alumnus Michael Mayer with Johanna McKeon, and co-produced by Roger T. In the morning before PBS aired Lincoln Center's COMPANY last night, November 8, Jon Cryer, who starred in the production as 'David', Tweeted to his followers that they should tune in. Little did he know he would be starting a back-and-forth on who best portrayed the role of 'Bobby' -- Neil Patrick Harris or Raul Esparza -- with actor Josh Charles (The Good Wife). As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Roundabout Theatre Company today hosts a private reading for a potential new production of Stephen Sondheim's Company, which might include some gender reversals in the casting of SOME of the show's iconic characters. Also, contrary to published reports, Nathan Lane is not currently attached to the workshop. We have confirmed that featured amongst the cast are Bobby Steggert, Michael Urie, and Alan Cumming. The New York Times is now reporting that Tony-winning director John Tiffany is directing and 2008 Tony nominee Daniel Evans is playing 'Bobby', who will be gay in this version of the show.

As with all Musical Theatre West productions, A CHORUS LINE is locally-produced in Long Beach with professional actors from Broadway, national tours, film and television, including the best in local talent.

Performed for four sold-out evenings beginning April 7, 2011, with the superb New York Philharmonic, Company In Concert was filmed for theatrical exhibition in more than 500 theatres nationwide this past March. Company In Concert was produced by Ellen Krass Productions. Lonny Price directed the production with Paul Gemignani conducting the New York Philharmonic.
