The Music Hall and Ogunquit Playhouse has announced the cast of Elf The Musical, on stage from November 30 – December 18 at The Music Hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Based on the beloved film, Elf The Musical is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole and raised as one of Santa's elves.
When Green Day's American Idiot arrived on Broadway in 2010, it received a mixed response. When I saw the original Broadway production, I thought the cast was glorious and found the Book, like everyone else, safe; an emotional roller coaster. Furthermore, you have the rocking score of Green Day's Grammy-winning album the musical is based on. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience seeing it on the Great White Way, and I am delighted Oakdale's Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC) has added it to their current season.

New Jersey-based alternative rock project Highwind has released their debut single, 'Afterlife (How've You Been?),' out on all digital platforms NOW. Along with a corresponding music video, the track serves as an open of letter of sorts to vocalist Chris Russo's best friend, who tragically passed in a car crash. The single is filled with raw emotion; combined with modern pop punk influences, Highwind packs a stirring punch in their debut. 'Afterlife (How've You Been?)' is comfortable and nostalgic, well-developed and simultaneously haunting. The track is just a small taste of Highwind's upcoming January debut EP, out January 11th. Elf the Musical is the perfect holiday treat. Whether you know the 2003 movie version that featured Will Ferrell or not, it doesn't matter. As a collaborative effort of the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine performed at the charmingly unique Music Hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, this show is one of the best holiday themed productions I've ever seen. The setting, combined with a funny script, rollicking musical numbers, costumes in Christmas palette colors and outrageous dance numbers (you can't beat tap dancing elves and Santas!) this show is worth seeing.

ELF THE MUSICAL is a fun family favorite for all ages. Based on the 2003 film which starred Will Ferrell, the show debuted on Broadway in 2010 with George Wendt as Santa Claus. He reprises the role in the touring production at the Wang Theatre, leading an ensemble of singing and dancing elves, and a big, childlike Erik Gratton as Buddy the Elf.
