Playwrights, actors and directors from around the country will travel to McCall and, working with local artists and students, develop ten new plays that will be presented to the public free of charge. Women's Project will end its 34th season with an off-Broadway show of epic proportions when seven playwrights, four directors, three producers and five actors collaborate on one world premiere play titled from the famous Ellen Stewart quote We Play for The Gods. We Play for The Gods stars Annie Golden, Amber Gray, Alexandra Henrikson, Irene Sofia Lucio and Erika Rolfsud. It begins performances Friday, June 1, at 8:00pm, opens Monday, June 11, at 7:30pm for a run through Saturday, June 23, at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street. ( more...)

TheatreSquared today announced the lineup for the 2012 Arkansas New Play Festival, the theatres fourth annual celebration of new works for the stage. The festival will feature staged reading performances of four professional plays, a showcase of ten-minute plays by Arkansas high school students, and Northwest Arkansass sixth annual 24-Hour Play-Off. In partnership with the Arkansas Repertory Theatre, T2s lineup of new works will also be presented at Oxford American Magazines new venue in Little Rock (1300 Main Street, May 17-18). The lineup of events in Northwest Arkansas will take place at Walton Arts Centers Nadine Baum Studios (505 W. Spring St., Fayetteville). The Old Globes 2012-13 Season will feature the World Premieres of two new musicals: Allegiance A New American Musical by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione and A Gentlemans Guide to Love and Murder by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. The season also includes George Bernard Shaws Pygmalion in celebration of the classic plays 100th anniversary and the World Premiere of a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsens A Dolls House by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt. Two recent Broadway hits will make their San Diego debuts at the Globe: David Lindsay-Abaires Good People and Jon Robin Baitzs Other Desert Cities.
