Alex Gemignani, Cass Morgan, Krysta Rodriguez and More Set for York's NEO Reading of SAINT EX

The York Theatre Company will present the first reading of new works in the new program NEO Reading Series: Saint Ex, with Book & Lyrics by Sean Berry and Music by Jenny Giering. Directed by Kent Nicholson with music direction by Matt Castle, the cast will feature Alex Gemignani (Assassins) in the title role, with Haley Bond (York's Pietro D'Amore), Charlie Brady (Les Miserables), Amy Justman (Company), Carl Kimbrough (A Christmas Story, tour), Omar Lopez-Ceparo (American Idiot), Cass Morgan (Memphis) and Krysta Rodriguez (The Addams Family). Composer Maury Yeston (Dreamgirls) acted as mentor; John Arthur Pinkard is the producing mentor. One night only performance set for Monday, December 17th at 7:00 p.m at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

Loosely based on F. Scott Fitzgerald, the hot Jazz Age novelist who wrote 'This Side of Paradise,' 'The Beautiful and Damned,' 'The Great Gatsby,' 'Tender Is the Night' and 'The Last Tycoon,' and his wife, Zelda. Signature Theatre closes out its 2011/12 season sporting funky legwarmers and wielding neon glow sticks with the Washington premiere of the musical comedy hit Xanadu. Beginning performances on May 6th, Xanadu will be transforming Signature's MAX Theatre into one big disco-ball heaven - complete with satin shorts and roller skates! Nominated for four Tony Awards® (including "Best Musical"), the musical features a Book by Douglas Carter Beane, with Music and Lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar. I wanted to like you. In fact, I was fairly convinced I was going to love you. Truly. After I was given the complimentary audience glo-stick, told that my seat was directly under the large disco ball, and instructed to keep my arms and legs away from the stage to avoid collision with the roller skating chaos, I quickly fell into theater 'true love.' The February 2012 installment of NYTB in the D-Lounge introduces to New York audiences Illinois-native, singer-songwriter Kevin Fogarty, who will present selections from his full-length musicals, and showcases Jonathan Larson Award-winner J. Oconer Navarro, who will present the world premiere of songs from two new musicals by himself and collaborators. Performers include Charlie Brady, Joaquina Kalukango, Zonya Love, and more.
