This Is Not a Theatre Company announces two new virtual shows for the age of physical distancing, Play in Your Bathtub and Life on Earth. Building on a history of ground-breaking, immersive work, This Is Not a Theatre Company now brings their work into people's homes to promote unity, self-care, and healing through the arts. Tickets for both plays are available by donation only, but a reservation must be made via the ticketing link to receive the event link. Play in Your Bathtub will run for four performances beginning April 1. Life on Earth will begin April 3.

This spring, rising star Philadelphia playwright Stephanie Kyung Sun Walters will bring the world premiere of her moving new play ESTHER CHOI AND THE FISH THAT DROWNED to Philadelphia's Simpatico Theatre. The play, which explores grief with comedy, heart and music, will run March 25 through April 12 at the Louis Bluver Theatre at The Drake. Reviewing press are invited to the 8:00pm performance on March 27, 2020.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the company for A Thousand Splendid Suns, adapted for the stage by Ursula Rani Sarma and based on the 2007 New York Times bestselling novel by Khaled Hosseini (Kite Runner). Set in 1992 in war-torn Afghanistan, this gripping story centers around a friendship that develops between two Afghan women following a tragedy. While facing insurmountable odds of a brutal and oppressive way of life, the two form an unlikely bond in a heart-rending fight for survival. Directed by Carey Perloff, A Thousand Splendid Suns runs January 17 - March 1, 2020 in the Kreeger Theater.

Peak Performances presents the U.S. premiere of Gandini Juggling and choreographer Alexander Whitley's Spring, a mesmerizing collaboration setting the company's avant-garde approach to juggling in juxtaposition with contemporary dance. Following the success of last year's Smashed, Gandini Juggling joins forces with Whitley for a kaleidoscopic dreamscape of a performance. The production features six virtuosic jugglers: Kati Ylä-Hokkala, Tristan Curty, Dominik Harant, Kim Huynh, Liza van Brakel, and Wes Peden and four contemporary dancers: Sakeema Peng Crook, Tia Hockey, Erin O'Toole, and Yu-Hsien Wu, and an immersive score by London-based composer and producer Gabriel Prokofiev. The Guardian called Spring a?oejoyfully hypnotica??filled with intricate skill.a?? The New York Neo-Futurists Gala comes to Caveat, a live show venue and bar on the lower east side, on Tuesday, November 12th, from 7pm-10:30pm. The exhibition encourages the viewer to reevaluate ideas about rehabilitation, reentry, and reintegration, which features ID inspired artwork created by individuals who have a conviction history as they conceive and develop a vision for a future self.

This season, Peak Performances offers its state-of-the-art platform to artists who work with-and sometimes against-these established vocabularies in the creation of exhilarating new performance works and the reinvigoration of preexisting texts, compositions, and choreographies.
