The Metropolitan Opera's 2011-12 season will feature the world's leading singers, conductors, and stage directors in seven new productions, including a world premiere, a Met premiere, and the first complete performances of a new Der Ring des Nibelungen cycle conducted by Music Director James Levine and directed by Robert Lepage.

On August 18, 2011, inside the newly built Strings Music Pavilion in Steamboat Springs, CO, Emerald City Opera (ECO)'s production of Johann Strauss Jr's most beloved operetta, Die Fledermaus, sold out to a packed audience, becoming the most successful production of the 2011 season.

Charismatic British conductor Bramwell Tovey returns to the Hollywood Bowl to lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Thursday, September 8, at 8 pm. The program presents Hector Berlioz' Roman Carnival Overture, Camille Saint-Saëns' popular Piano Concerto No. 2, performed by young pianist Joyce Yang, Charles Gounod's Faust Ballet Music and Ottorino Respighi's symphonic poem, Pines of Rome.

Opera San Jose General Director Irene Dalis has announced repertoire for the company's 28th season to begin Saturday, September 10 with the company premiere of Mozart's first dramatic masterwork Idomeneo, the mythical tale of the king of Crete set at the end of the Trojan War.
