HUMOR ABUSE Joins CTG Lineup, Replacing WHAT THE BUTLER SAW by BWW News Desk - May 24, 2013
'Humor Abuse,' the hilarious and heartfelt story of growing up in a circus, created by Lorenzo Pisoni and Erica Schmidt, directed by Schmidt and featuring a tour de force performance by Pisoni, will be presented at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum, September 17 through November 3, 2013. THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS Opens 5/29 in LA by BWW News Desk - May 23, 2013
"The Scottsboro Boys" opens Wednesday, May 29 at 8 p.m. at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre. CTG's production of Kander and Ebb's bold and wildly entertaining musical, with book by David Thompson, and direction and choreography by Tony Award-winning Susan Stroman, continues through June 30, 2013. CTG Announces 2013 Theatre Educator Fellows by BWW News Desk - May 20, 2013
Five teachers have been selected for Center Theatre Group's 2013 Theatre Educator Fellowship program, it was announced recently at a celebratory dinner for the opening of August Wilson's "Joe Turner's Come and Gone" presented at the CTG/Mark Taper Forum. The Theatre Educator Fellowship program, created by CTG's Education and Community Partnerships Department and supported by a grant from JPMorgan Chase & Co., awards fellowships to educators who implement theatre in their teaching practice. Val Kilmer's CITIZEN TWAIN Comes to Culver City, 6/28-7/14 by BWW News Desk - May 16, 2013
Val Kilmer, famous for his portrayals of iconic characters such as Jim Morrison (The Doors), Doc Holliday (Tombstone) and Batman (Batman Forever), inhabits the spirit of yet another legendary figure: Mark Twain. Kilmer continues to develop Citizen Twain, a solo show about the man considered to be the world's greatest storyteller, at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, June 28 to July 14 for a limited three-week engagement, followed by this fall by performances in London's West End. Son of Semele Ensemble Extends OUR CLASS at Atwater Village by BWW News Desk - May 13, 2013
Award-winning theatre company, Son of Semele Ensemble (SOSE), has extended the west coast premiere of Our Class, by Polish playwright Tadeusz S?obodzianek, in an English version by Ryan Craig. Directed by Matthew McCray, the critically-acclaimed production of Our Class will continue its run at the Atwater Village Theatre, with performances resuming May 24. (more...)

A carnival midway of magic, mischief and theatrical thrills! Amanda Dehnert, celebrated throughout the American theatre for re-imagining classics, has added a multitude of visual delights and fantastical illusions to the original charm and beautiful ballads (like the haunting "Try to Remember") of The Fantasticks. When two scheming fathers conspire with the mysterious El Gallo to keep their daughter and son apart (to be sure they'll fall in love!) the dewy-eyed lovers venture into the real world. But as fantasy turns to reality, El Gallo is there to remind them that "without the hurt, the heart is hollow" in one of the most popular musicals of all time, which the Washington Postcalls, "Fresh and alive again."
