Erich Bergen has been set to star in How Sweet It Is, a musical comedy feature film, now in production in Los Angeles. The movie, which also stars Joe Piscopo, Erika Christensen, Paul Sorvino, Michael Paré, Eddie Griffin, and Burt Reynolds, is directed by Brian Herzlinger, and is scheduled for a Fall 2012 release. Kathleen Marshall to Helm Broadway-Bound EVER AFTER Musical; Music by Heisler/Goldrich

Producers Scott Landis and Philip Morgaman have announced that EVER AFTER, a new musical based on the 20th Century Fox Film, will open on Broadway in the 2013-2014 season following a pre-Broadway engagement to be announced. The production will be directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall. EVER AFTER features music by Zina Goldrich and book & lyrics by Marcy Heisler, who recently won the 2012 Kleban Prize for Musical Theatre for most promising musical theatre lyricist. The music director is Mary-Mitchell Campbell.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced the cast and creative team for its world premiere of Eve Enslers EMOTIONAL CREATURE. This positive and propulsive new show from the Tony Award-winning playwright, performer, and activist who created The Vagina Monologues features a choreographer, a composer, four top designers, and an ensemble of talented young women. Directed by Obie Award-winner Jo Bonney, Emotional Creature plays only 36 performances in the Roda Theatre. The limited engagement at Berkeley Rep begins previews on June 14, opens June 22, and runs through July 15. The lead producers of this premiere are Wayne Jordan and Quinn Delaney, Marjorie Randolph, and Jack and Betty Schafer; the executive producer is the Strauch Kulhanjian Family. The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 15 awards granted from their National Fund for New Musicals, a major funding program to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaborations with writers to create, develop and produce new musicals.
