Ghostlight Ensemble announced the cast of its first endeavor of the 2019-2020 Season, a staged reading of The Thirteenth Chair, by Bayard Veiller.

A production developed at Actors Studio West of Martin McDonagh's award-winning black comedy THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE, directed by Mark Kemble (Film: co-writer/director "Bad Hurt"; writer/director award-winning play "Names"), graces the stage now through October 21 at studio/stage in Los Angeles. 

Production developed at the Actors Studio West, Martin McDonagh's award-winning black comedy THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE, directed by Mark Kemble (Film: co-writer/director 'Bad Hurt'; writer/director award-winning play 'Names'), will run September 14 - October 21 at studio/stage in Los Angeles. From acclaimed writer Martin McDonagh ('Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri') comes a darkly comic tale of four characters trapped in a beautiful, hopeless town. In a remote cottage in Leenane, County Galway, Ireland, spinster Maureen Folan has cared for her manipulative, aging mother Mag for twenty years, and their bond is at the breaking point. When Maureen has a chance at happiness with Pato Dooley - a local man with wider ambitions who sends her messages through his feckless brother Ray - suffocated dreams and simmering resentments surface, culminating in an unexpected climax that pits mother against daughter, love against rejection, and hope against fate.

Mark Kemble is an award-winning writer/director from Providence, Rhode Island. He has written and directed over twenty stage productions in Providence, Los Angeles and New York. He is about to open Martin McDonagh's The Beauty Queen of Lenane at studio/stage in East Hollywood.

Neil Koenigsberg' Off the King's Road vividly illustrates the need for patience in dealing with your elders. The talented Tom Bower tackles the challenge of embodying a now single, unapologetic man going through his mundane everyday routines while grappling with continuing life alone without Betty, his wife of many years. Bower shines in the scene where he reveals what really led to his Betty's demise.

Actress Amy Madigan will direct Neil Koenigsberg's play Off the King's Road later this month at the Odyssey. A production of the play in New York last season was critically acclaimed, including a New York Times critic's pick. In our conversation Madigan talks about the play, her cast and her association with the playwright.

Rogue Machine is extending Enda Walsh's THE NEW ELECTRIC BALLROOM. Beginning August 10th and running 8pm Fridays, 5pm Saturdays, 7pm Sundays, and 8pm Mondays, the show will now close on September 2nd with a 3pm and 7pm show on that Sunday only.

The New Electric Ballroom is wonderfully theatrical, creating a kind of sensual experience of pain/pleasure one is unlikely to forget - ever.
