Terrence McNally's MOTHERS AND SONS Now Playing at Bucks County Playhouse

Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) (Jed Bernstein, Producing Director) has announced that the world premiere of Mothers and Sonsby four-time Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally is now in performances. The new play features a star studded cast including Tyne Daly, Manoel Felciano, Bobby Steggert, and Grayson Taylor with direction by Sheryl Kaller. (more...)

Sure to be known as the premier rock tour of 2013, the highly anticipated CARNIVAL OF MADNESS--sponsored by Monster Energy--returns this summer with multi-Platinum rock band SHINEDOWN, along with PAPA ROACH, SKILLET, IN THIS MOMENT, and WE AS HUMAN. CABARET LIFE NYC: Concerts for City Greens April Benefit Show Was Cool Kickoff for 6th Season Launching on May 29

Unless the host is particularly warm, funny, and charismatic (think Dana Lorge and her new monthly vehicle at the Metropolitan Room) or the show is a way to champion a good cause (like Joseph Macchia's Cabaret Cares events), for the most part cabaret variety shows are clunky affairs which can be too long, too rambling, give too much time to average talent or not enough of a showcase to outstanding talent. I ran into one of the rare exceptions last month (April 23) in the form of the The Concerts for City Greens' First Annual Gala & 2012 Songwriting Contest Finale, a variety show at the Laurie Beechman Theatre that served as a fund raiser for the launch of a new non-profit called Music and Art for Green which will incorporate Concerts for City Greens within its umbrella. Carole King Set for 'In Performance at the White House' Series, 5/22

As part of their "In Performance at
the White House" series, the President and First Lady will host a
concert in the East Room honoring singer-songwriter Carole King, who
will be awarded the 2013 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for
Popular Song. President Obama will present the award as he did when
the Library of Congress honored Stevie Wonder (2009), Sir Paul
McCartney (2010), and the songwriting team of Burt Bacharach and Hal
David (2012). The program will include performances by King, as well
as Gloria Estefan, Billy Joel, Jesse McCartney, Emeli Sande, James

Merrill, and directed by Tom Wojtunik. BLOOD BROTHERS will play a limited engagement at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church (30-44 Crescent St, Astoria, NY 11102. Entrance on 30th Road.)
