Rebeca Tomás and Company to Bring CINCO POR CINCO to Theatre 80 St. Marks, 5/17-19

With a new program of innovative and edgy repertoire, Rebeca Tomas will bring her A Palo Seco Flamenco Company back to Theatre 80 Saint Marks May 17 to 19 in a new production, 'Cinco Por Cinco.' Tomas, a fierce and feminine NY-based Flamenco artist, will direct her company of five dancers, two singers and three musicians in a show that promises to be true to her vision of upholding Flamenco's traditions while also pushing its boundaries and giving it a distinctive New York City feel. Catskill Mountain Foundation Launches Orpheum Dance Festival

The Catskill Mountain Foundation (CMF) announced today the launch of its inaugural Orpheum Dance Festival at the new Orpheum Performing Arts Center in Tannersville, New York. The theater, designed by acclaimed theater architect Hugh Hardy, provides a rare combination of state-of-the-art proscenium dance stage with splendid acoustics. The festival's centerpiece is a performance by the world renowned Paul Taylor Dance Company on May 22, which complements a larger three-week performance residency by Paul Taylor 2 Dance Company (Taylor 2) from May 6 to May 26, 2013. On Sunday, December 12 at 2:30 p.m., join Tony nominee and international concert artist Eleanor Reissa and friends for a delightful afternoon of Yiddish and English music and humor. Reissa, one of the world's most important interpreters of Yiddish song, will perform in her only New York City appearance this year at the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust. Her band of musical luminaries is led by Frank London of the Klezmatics and features Marty Confurius on the upright bass; Rex Benincasa on percussion and drums; slide trombone player Brian Drye; and pianist and accordion player Patrick Farrell.
