L!VE Asbury Park has announced its upcoming production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Chris Hall (Hedwig) and Kendal Hartse (Yitzhak) have signed on as the leads along side musicians Michael Thomas Murray, Mike Preen and Steve Kelly. Hedwig will run June 21, 22 and 23rd for five live performances at The Press Room, located at 610 Bangs Avenue in downtown Asbury Park. (more...)

Isaac* (Miss Electricity at La Jolla Playhouse; Balm In Gilead at Steppenwolf), Talynm Jinn Kim (LABrynth member, Developing Artists Theater Co.), Yanghee Lee, Julian Charles Leong (NY debut), Bert Matias (Snow Falling On Cedars), Amy Kim Waschke* (Somebody/Nobody at Arizona Theatre Company), and Virginia Wing* (Chu Chem). Are you being bugged? Is someone bugging you? Fed up with bugs? Or, are you just BUGGIN' OUT? On Monday, December 6 the 2010 Groundbreakers take on this tiny but complex word and deconstruct it for a night of buggy plays. Featuring 10-minute plays by the freshest and flyest playwrights around, Halley Feiffer, Lauren Feldman, Andrew Kramer, Nick Mwaluko, and Leah Nanako Winkler. Directed by Carlos Armesto, Shelly Butler, Shay Gines, Jessi D. Hill, and Tom Wojtunik. BUG OUT! will be on Monday, December 6 at HERE Arts Center (145 Sixth Ave, enter on Dominick Street, one block south of Spring). Doors are at 7:30pm; show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $10 and will be available for purchase at the door. All Proceeds Support the Groundbreakers Playwrights Reading Series in February 2011. (more...)

The 2010 New York Innovative Theatre Awards were presented Monday night, September 20, at Manhattan’s Cooper Union. Choreographer and dancer JESSE ZARITT swept the awards for which he was nominated, including Outstanding Solo Performance, Outstanding Choreography and Outstanding Performance Art Production. Mr. Zaritt appeared in terraNOVA Collective’s soloNOVA Arts Festival in May of 2010 as the inaugural production of Theatre C, founded by Artistic Director Carlos Armesto. (more...)
