Peter Asher Returns to Feinstein's at Loews Regency, 6/19-23

Feinstein's at Loews Regency will continue its Spring 2012 season with the return engagement of pop music legend Peter Asher and his multimedia show A Musical Memoir of the 60s and Beyond from June 19 through June 23. When the program made its New York debut at Feinsteins last year, it played to packed houses and critical acclaim. The two-time Grammy Award winner for Producer of the Year first rose to international acclaim through the global smash "World Without Love" as one half of the British Invasion duo Peter & Gordon, Peter moved effortlessly to Music Executive with The Beatles' Apple Records, then famously to producer and manager, handling the careers of James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt and a host of others. Among his more recent projects is the upcoming Dreamworks movie Madagascar 3: Europes Most Wanted. In addition to producing the soundtrack, he performs the films only original song Love Always Comes As A Surprise, co-written with Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, which he will also perform at Feinsteins. Walnut Street Theatre concludes its landmark 203rd season with an all-new production of Broadways BUDDY: THE Buddy Holly STORY. Directed and choreographed by Casey Hushion, the show began previews on May 15th and opens on May 23rd, running through July 15th on the WST Mainstage. Christopher Sutton (Buddy), says this is the first time in the history of the Walnut Street Theatre that the same actor has played the same role twice. Lookingglass Theatre Company presents the world premiere of EASTLAND: A NEW MUSICAL, written by Artistic Director Andrew White with music by Ben Sussman and Artistic Associate Andre Pluess and directed by Amanda Dehnert. The production runs June 6 July 29, 2012 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. The Press Opening is Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.

The 80th Anniversary Season at the Ogunquit Playhouse kicks off with Always, Patsy Cline, on stage from May 23 through June 16. This show is told through the letters of star-struck fan Louise Seger, portrayed by Emmy Award winning actress, Sally Struthers. This popular musical, which has enjoyed great success both off-Broadway and across the nation, is based on the true story of Clines friendship with Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961 and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death. Featuring the unforgettable hits of the Country Music mega-star, this funny and touching tribute celebrates the career and life of the singer who died tragically in a plane crash in 1963. Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Walking After Midnight are just a few of the 27 featured songs. ( more...)

On Thursday, May 24 at 8pm, composer and vocalist Lisa Bielawa will present a concert with friends from the chorus of Einstein on the Beach at The Stone (Avenue C and 2nd Street, NYC), as part of a series of performances at the East Village venue curated by Gyan Riley. Lisa Bielawa is the choirmaster of Philip Glass and Robert Wilsons monumental opera, currently touring worldwide. James William Productions and Stephenie Skyllas will present Kurt Peterson and Victoria Mallory in "When Everything Was Possible, A Concert (with comments)," for one night only, Sunday April 29th (7:30pm) at New York City Center (131 West 55th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues), as a benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. They will be joined by a thirteen-piece band (Michael Rafter, Music Director), playing new orchestrations by Tony Award winner Jonathan Tunick.
