Irish Repertory Theatre announced today an extension for Eugene O'Neill's THE EMPEROR JONES, which will now run through May 21. Directed by Ciaran O'Reilly (Shining City), and starring Obi Abili (Ivo van Hove's Antigone at BAM), THE EMPEROR JONES began performances on March 1, 2017 at Irish Rep Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage, and officially opened on March 12, 2017.

Asolo Rep has confirmed it has cancelled tonight's first preview of the world premiere musical JOSEPHINE, starring Deborah Cox. Performances are scheduled to resume tomorrow, Thursday, April 28.

The Irish Repertory Theatre (Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director and Ciaran O'Reilly, Producing Director) presents its first production of 2016, THE BURIAL AT THEBES written by Irish Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney, based on Sophocles' Antigone.  Directed by Charlotte Moore, THE BURIAL AT THEBES will now star two-time Emmy Award-winner and Tony nominee Larry Bryggman (Proof, Picnic, "As the World Turns") as Creon, The King of Thebes (who replaces the previously announced John Cullum), and Rebekah Brockman (seen as Nettie on the acclaimed Cinemax series "The Knick") as Antigone.  THE BURIAL AT THEBES will be performed Thursday, January 14 - Sunday, March 6, 2016. RALEIGH, N.C. – North Carolina Opera has joined the consortium co-commissioning and co-producing the new opera COLD MOUNTAIN, with music by Pulitzer Prize winning composer Jennifer Higdon and libretto by the renowned Gene Scheer. Based on Charles Frazier's wildly successful 1997 novel COLD MOUNTAIN (which sold over four million copies and won the National Book Award for fiction) this North Carolina story tells of the long journey homeward of Confederate soldier Inman to his love, Ada.
