Samuel Beckett's modern classic "Waiting for Godot" opened March 21, 2012 and continues through April 22 at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum. The cast includes prominent Beckett actors Alan Mandell (Estragon) and Barry McGovern (Vladimir), Academy Award-nominee James Cromwell (Pozzo), Hugo Armstrong (Lucky) and LJ Benet (Boy); the director is Michael Arabian.

The MainStreet Theatre Company Presents A WRINKLE IN TIME, 5/5-20

The MainStreet Theatre Company will end its 6th season with an adaptation of Madeleine LEngles Newberry Award winning classic A Wrinkle in Time. The book is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and The MainStreet Theatre Company was awarded a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts to help support the production. Performances run from May 5th May 20th at Rancho Cucamongas Lewis Family Playhouse in the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center. The adaptation is by John Glore, and it will be directed by Robert Castro. Academy Award nominee and three-time Emmy Award nominee James Cromwell (who will play Pozzo), Hugo Armstrong (Lucky) and LJ Benet (Boy) will join the previously announced prominent Beckett actors Alan Mandell and Barry McGovern in the classic tragicomedy Waiting for Godot opening at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum March 21, 2012. The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director) announces the full cast and creative team for THE HEIRESS at The Pasadena Playhouse. The production will star Richard Chamberlain in the role of Dr. Austin Sloper, Heather Tom as his daughter Catherine Sloper and Julia Duffy as Dr. Slopers sister Lavinia Penniman. LaChiusa, Miranda, et al. Win 2011 Garland Awards

The 2011 Garland Award recipients were announced today, honoring the best of Los Angeles theatre. Under the voting system each Garland winner was named on at least three critics' "Best of 2010" lists. Each critic listed up to five nominees for each category except performance, up to 10 nominees for performance in musical productions and 10 for straight plays. Here are the critics' lists, minus the winners.
The critics who voted are Jeff Favre, Hoyt Hilsman, Travis Holder, Eric Marchese, Dany Margolies, Dink O'Neal, Melinda Schupmann, Madeleine Shaner, Les Spindle, Neal Weaver, and Jennie Webb. Center Theatre Group's production of "The Lieutenant of Inishmore," Martin McDonagh's strikingly original black comedy follows Padraic (played by Chris Pine), a terrorist deemed too angry for the IRA, and the swath of destruction he cuts on his return to Inishmore to care for a beloved pet.
