The Lewisville Grand Theater will shine a spotlight on some of DFW's funniest folks with two performances of stand-up comedy in the Black Box Theater on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. 

The Lewisville Grand Theater celebrates sweet summertime with the announcement of four events slated for June.

Hailed as the perfect musical comedy, this award-winning classic gambles with luck and love under the bright lights of Broadway. Frank Loesser's brassy, immortal score makes Guys and Dolls a crowd pleaser.

John Pizzarelli, the world-renowned jazz guitarist and singer, who has been called 'hip with a wink' by Town & Country, 'madly creative' by the Los Angeles Times and 'the genial genius of the guitar' by The Toronto Star brought his Swing Seven to Birdland this past week and Broadwayworld was there for his closing night.  Son of the legendary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, New Jersey native John Pizzarelli has become one of the most recognizable faces and voices in contemporary jazz. John Pizzarelli has had a multi-faceted career as a jazz guitarist, vocalist and bandleader, known around the world for the cool jazz flavor he brings to classic standards, late-night ballads, and each of his hugely entertaining live performances and masterful recordings. His most recent CD release, Rockin' In Rhythm, combines the enduring work of Duke Ellington with Pizzarelli's incredible ability to reinterpret the Great American Songbook. Rockin' In Rhythm is the follow up to Pizzarelli's critically-acclaimed 2008 release, With A Song In My Heart - John Pizzarelli Sings the Music of Richard Rodgers, which featured Don Sebesky's Grammy-nominated arrangement of 'Johnny One Note.' With his active touring schedule, Pizzarelli continues to charm audiences with his warmth, conversational humor, and musical moxie.

On the first day of rehearsal, I found out the woman playing my mother was a native of England. I would be lying if I didn't say I had to face & accept the challenge of speaking with her in her native English dialect. I'm from San Diego and we say things like "dude" & "surf," not "tea & crumpets." Thankfully, I was well prepared from a handful of semesters in dialect training during my college years.

Are you intrigued by the class and elegance of a different time? Are you perhaps a bit nostalgic for the 1940s like me? After performing in My Fair Lady (and watching the TV series Downton Abbey), I have developed a new interest in the 1910s-era in England, its style, and the manors of its citizens.

One of the unspoken thrills of theatre is getting ready for each performance. The prep-work involves putting on wigs, applying make-up, zipping up costumes, and (in the case of My Fair Lady) applying facial hair.

Hailed as one of the greatest musicals of all time, My Fair Lady (now through October 6) is the perfect grand finale to the STAGES ST. LOUIS record-breaking 27th season. Christopher Guilmet and Pamela Brumley star as Professor Henry Higgins and Eliza Doolittle, respectively. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the stars in action in the video below!
