Rubicon Theatre Company Announces 15th Anniversary Season; 'OUR TOWN/YOUR THEATRE' Initiative

Rubicon Theatre Artistic Directors KARYL LYNN BURNS and JAMES ONEIL announced the companys 15th Anniversary Season at a preview event for subscribers, donors and media last earlier this month at the theatres home in Venturas Downtown Cultural District. The event was hosted by Rubicon Board President DR. ROZ WARNER and Board of Advisors Chair/Board Vice-President JEFF SMITH, with onstage appearances by several of the directors, writers and performers for the season. ( more...)

FOLLIES Closes At Chicago Shakespeare 11/13

Chicago Shakespeare Theater's extension of its celebrated 25th Anniversary Season opening production of Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman's Follies, directed by CST Associate Artistic Director Gary Griffin will close today, November 13, 2011, in CST's Courtyard Theater. The production features a company of more than 40 actors and musicians that includes Olivier Award nominees Brent Barrett as Benjamin Stone and Caroline O'Connor as Phyllis Rogers Stone, with Robert Petkoff as Buddy Plummer, Susan Moniz as Sally Durant Plummer and Chicago musical theater favorite Hollis Resnik as Carlotta Campion.

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced that due to popular demand, The Old Globe's production of Jane Austen's Emma - A Musical Romantic Comedy will receive a week of additional performances. Created by Tony Award-nominated composer/lyricist Paul Gordon and directed by Tony Award nominee Jeff Calhoun, Jane Austen's Emma is currently in previews and was originally set to close on Feb. 27. Pop icon Deborah Cox headlined a star-studded cast featuring performances and presentations by Sandra Thurman, former AIDS Czar under President Bill Clinton and current President and CEO of International AIDS Trust, the cast of FELA!, Dancing With The Stars finalist and N'SYNC star Lance Bass, Tony Award winners Alice Ripley, Chuck Cooper, Melba Moore, and TV stars Graham Phillips (The Good Wife) and Ariana Grande (Nickelodeon's Victorious), for the third annual Broadway in South Africa (BSA) benefit concert last night, October 4. Nearly the entire show featured world-premiere songs, created for the evening, by such composers as Grammy Award winners Desmond Child and Julie Gold. This year's honoree was producer Michael Butler.
