TV Star Ella Joyce headlines the 4th Annual Aurora Jacksonville Black Arts Festival, July 22-24, 2011. Actress Ella Joyce, best known for her co-starring role of Eleanor on FOX TV's 'Roc', and Jasmine on 'My Wife & Kids, captures the famous moment in the life of Rosa Parks, affectionately called 'Mother of the Civil Rights Movement', in her highly acclaimed, one-woman play A Rose Among Thorns, a Tribute to Rosa Parks; Created & Performed by ELLA JOYCE and Directed by Dan Martin. A ROSE AMONG THORNS will take place on Sunday, July 24 at 3:00 p.m.

MCC Theater (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; Blake West, Executive Director) today announced its annual FreshPlay Festival of new plays by members of the youth company. The FreshPlay Festival merges the voices and creativity of urban youth with the experience of professionals, creating provocative, innovative and fresh theater. This year, the FreshPlay Festival will focus on the workshop process with ten original plays penned by MCC Theater Youth Company playwrights. These young writers will work with a roster of professional directors, actors and peers from the Youth Company's Acting Lab.
