Broadway Across Canada and producers Thomas Schumacher of Disney Theatrical Productions and Cameron Mackintosh announced today that tickets for the long-awaited production of MARY POPPINS will go on sale to the public on Monday, June 4 at 10 a.m. CalgaryÂ’s most eagerly awaited stage production will begin performances at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditoriumon Tuesday, July 31 for a limited engagement of one week through Sunday, August 5. Chairman of Stage Entertainment, Joop van den Ende and Producer and President of Disney Theatrical Productions, Thomas Schumacher announce two premiere productions of THE LITTLE MERMAID. The Holland production is currently in previews in Groningen and opens on June 16th, 2012 in Rotterdam. The Moscow production of THE LITTLE MERMAID will make its debut on October 6th, 2012. The touring production of MARY POPPINS that's currently gracing the stage of the Peabody Opera House is “practically perfect”, featuring eye-popping special effects, a glorious set, and terrific performances that manage to capture the spirit of the 1964 Disney film, as well as the P.L. Travers books that inspired it. While some of the more beloved elements from the movie are noticeably absent, they've been replaced with sequences that are every bit as magical and engaging. Though the staging is a bit cramped, this is a spectacular show that appeals to both children and adults. And, I should know because I brought along my six-year old son, and he loved it. (more...)

El espectáculo traslada a las tablas el drama naturalista que supuso la película irlandesa de 2006, con la intención de reflejar ese momento único en que dos personas se tienen la una a la otra, se quieren y se comunican a través de sus propias canciones. Experiencias vividas o personas que se cruzan en nuestro camino y querríamos retener en un momento eterno, sólo para nosotros. El musical convence en Broadway y la grabación del elenco original no sólo convence, si no que conmueve y emociona. (more...)

Richard Eyre returns to the Almeida Theatre to direct the world premiere of Nick Dear’s The Dark Earth and the Light Sky. Running from 8 November 2012 – 12 January 2013, with an opening night November 15. Designs are by Bob Crowley with lighting by Peter Mumford and sound by John Leonard. Over 20 years in the making, singer songwriter Glen Hansard will release his first ever solo album, Rhythm and Repose, on Anti- Records June 19. Best known for his work with The Frames, The Swell Season and in the feature film Once, for which he won an Academy Award, Rhythm and Repose is HansardÂ’s debut solo album and first album of new material since his 2009 release Strict Joy with The Swell Season. The album will be available for pre-sale at the Anti Store. In recent months Hansard has been seen in the documentary The Swell Season which has toured the film festival circuit this year, contributed two songs to the blockbuster soundtrack, The Hunger Games, and been active in the promotion of Once, The Musical which successfully opened on Broadway on March 18.
